This workshop will take you through the past, present and future of the Belfast waterfront area, from the smallest beginnings to the greatest endeavours.

This training session will feature the stories of how the river was tamed and land reclaimed to make Belfast Harbour and the world’s biggest and most productive shipyards; the stories of trade and innovation and the businesses still in existence today; and the stories of the city’s neighbourhoods, the livelihoods and trades – the shops that sold everything from a needle to an anchor. The training also looks at the attractions on the Maritime Mile in the present waterfront area, how developments and investors are shaping the former industrial land into offices and residential buildings, and what the future waterfront will look like – how masterplans and frameworks will further transform the area.
