The Great Light Tour  -  discover the stories, technology & heritage behind one of the world's largest lighthouse optics.

Join us on an interactive guided tour of the Great Light, one of the largest lighthouse optics of its kind ever built. Standing seven metres tall and weighing ten tonnes, this remarkable maritime artefact once guided ships safely into Belfast Lough and remains an important symbol of the city's maritime and industrial heritage.

As part of this year's EHOD theme, Heritage at Risk - Revive, Resist, Reimagine, visitors will discover how the Great Light was preserved and given a new home on the Belfast Historic Waterfront. Our guide will bring to life the story of lighthouses, changing technology, memories of lighthouse keepers and the important role the Great Light played in Belfast's maritime and industrial past.

The tour offers a unique opportunity to experience this extraordinary piece of engineering up close and discover how Belfast's maritime heritage continues to be protected, shared and reimagined for future generations.
